Climate change isn’t something we only read about in books or watch in documentaries. It is here, and we are living its effects, largely due to human activities such as industrialization, unsustainable agricultural practices, and rampant deforestation. As the impacts of climate change worsen, many regions are becoming increasingly vulnerable, leading to food insecurity and income loss. Key crops like bananas, beans, maize, and coffee are failing to thrive under extreme heat, causing devastating consequences for livelihoods and nutrition. This crisis disproportionately affects children, women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, the groups most at risk when disasters strike. At Kinda Education Support, we are committed to innovative, actionable solutions. Collaborating with Indigenous communities, we aim to mitigate the effects of climate change in Tanzania. Our focus is on adopting sustainable and practical approaches to safeguard our planet and the future of vulnerable communities.

KESU strongly believes that a conducive environment for teaching and learning makes Tanzanian pupils/youth attain their dreams. Together with Districts and communities we make a need assessment and finally come up with contribution agreement normally it’s 60%, 30% & 10% respectively. We build new classrooms, renovate old ones, construct toilets as well as water tanks. To increase girls’ attendance and academic performance, we also attach MHM rooms for girls. Moreover, after construction of water tanks, we install water filters so that the beneficiaries access safe and clean water for drinking.

WASH is an acronym for “Water,” “Sanitation” and Hygiene.” The WASH concept is used in the international development field to refer to initiatives aimed at equitable and accessible water and sanitation for all, particularly girls and women. Addressing these topics successfully has shown to have a positive effect on improving health, student learning, life expectancy and disease prevention while enhancing living standards, gender equality, education, and health awareness, to name a few.

One of the 3 main pillars of which Kinda Education Support operates is Gender equality. In doing so, we promote girls’ education by working with our supporters to address the topic of menstrual hygiene management in primary schools by integrating life-skills games to provide menstrual education. We want to improve girls’ confidence and attendance rate, provide access of information/education on menstruation to both girls and boys in primary schools, to promote behavioural change through inclusion of boys to break cultural barriers around menstruation associated with traditional taboos and myths such as ideas relating to impurity, witchcraft, and local superstitions, which lead to negative attitudes and practices towards menstruation etc By promoting menstrual hygiene management among adolescent girls, we are breaking barriers to education and raising awareness about sexual and reproductive health, empowering girls to thrive.

Kinda Education Support's HIV, Gender, and Economic Empowerment Program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving the lives of children and young women living with or affected by HIV. This program addresses the intersection of health, gender equality, and economic empowerment, ensuring that vulnerable populations gain access to critical resources and support systems. Through this initiative, we provide psychosocial support, sexual reproductive health education, and life skills training to help individuals build resilience and overcome societal stigma. By working closely with schools, communities, and healthcare providers, we aim to create a nurturing environment where children and young women can thrive academically, socially, and economically.
A key focus of the program is fostering economic empowerment through skill-building and financial literacy training. We establish community support groups and school-based clubs to equip participants with income-generating skills while promoting self-reliance and gender equity. Adolescent girls, in particular, benefit from mentorship opportunities and initiatives designed to boost self-esteem and leadership capacity. This holistic approach ensures that participants not only gain the tools to support themselves economically but also become advocates for gender equality and community health. By empowering individuals and transforming mindsets, this program contributes to healthier, more inclusive communities.
